If your dent is in a small area near a crease in the vehicle, you can place a small block of wood at the tip of the dent and moderately tap the wood with a mallet to force the misplaced metal back into its primary shape. We had better luck using the radio to monitor National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio broadcasts, which we were able to receive from nearly anywhere since Weather Radio stations transmit at much higher power than mobile transmitters. These broadcasts are repeated every few minutes, are updated every few hours, and can help alert travelers to severe weather conditions. An internal look of a variator, a part of a CVT (Continuous Variable Transmission). What you see here are both a side view and a frontal view of the ACTIVE variator. This variator has round weights (6 green ones in this ex) which are a key element here. As the variator house spins by the engine, the centrifugal forces push these weights outside, and on to the wall of the second half of the variator house which pushes the driving belt (black) outside - changing the final drive ratio. As I said, This part of the variator shown here is THE ACTIVE one in the system. There is another PASSIVE (or SLAVE) variator, (not shown in this presentation) that looks SIMILAR to what is shown here. If you look at it working, then you'll see that it opens as the front one closes. This PASSIVE variator has no weights, but just a spring that pushes the plates one to another, with the belt moving between them. The ACTIVE variator is stronger then the spring force, allowing it to control the passive's variator opening - in and out. The combination of two variators, one that closes while other is open, and vise versa, is what constantly changes the final drive ratios. Drag racing, a contest between two cars starting from a perfect stop over a distance of a 1/4 mile (1320 feet) depends heavily on first 60 feet of the race, or the launch. The technique used for launching varies greatly depending on the how the car is equipped. The type of transmission, which wheels are being driven, tires, power, suspension and track making ready all play key roles in how to go about getting the best start possible from the car.
Improvements on the time it takes for the car to travel the first 60 feet down the track have requisite implications on the final Et (estimated time). As a normal rule, improvements in the 60 foot time, are magnified by 2x on your final Et. For example, a Dodge Viper Gts that runs a 12.2 @ 120 Mph in the 1/4 mile with a 60 foot time of 2.0 can make requisite improvements to it's 1/4 mile times by obtaining a good launch. When launching a car with an automatic transmission, a technique called power braking is used. After properly staging the car at the drag strip's staging lane, tightly hold down the brake with one foot, while slowly applying the accelerator peddle with the other foot. The car's motor Rpm (revolutions per minute) should slowly increase to a point where the car will whether start to move or start spinning the tires. Hold down both the brake and accelerator peddles just below the point where the car is starting to move or spinning the tires. When the christmas tree lights reach the last amber light before the green, lift off of the brake and slowly push the gas peddle all the way down. The accurate Rpm to start at will be separate every car depending on all of the variables mentioned earlier. Start conservative with the first start and keep expanding the Rpm at which the car is launched at while the subsequent runs. If the car starts spinning the tires after the launch, lower the start Rpm and try again.
When launching a car with a by hand transmission come to a perfect stop after the car is properly staged. Press the clutch in all the way with one foot while pressing the accelerator peddle down with the other foot, raising the motor Rpm to a constant moderate level for the first launch. Lift up on the clutch peddle to the point where the car is just about to start sharp and hold both peddles still. When the christmas tree lights reach the last amber before the green, slowly release the clutch while speedily applying the accelerator peddle enough to start the car quickly, but not too much to induce a large estimate of wheel spin. Start conservative with the first start and keep expanding the Rpm at which the car is launched at while the subsequent runs. If the car starts spinning the tires too much after the launch, lower the start Rpm and try again.
